Dining at LEGO House – The MINI CHEF Experience
(What You Need to Know Before You Go)
During our visit to LEGO House in Billund, we had lunch at MINI CHEF — one of the most creative and unforgettable theme-park restaurants ever.
It’s not just a meal… it’s an experience where your kids build their food order with LEGO bricks and see it come to life through playful robots.
But here’s something many visitors don’t know (especially travelers coming from outside Europe):
👉 You MUST reserve ahead of time.
MINI CHEF fills up quickly — often days or even weeks in advance, especially during school holidays. Walk-ins are almost impossible. If you’re visiting from the US and planning your Billund trip, be sure to book as soon as you confirm your dates.
We booked our table before our trip, and I’m so glad we did — by the time we arrived at LEGO House, the restaurant was completely full.

How to Order at MINI CHEF LEGO House Billund – Family Dining Guide
Inside LEGO House, you’ll find one of the most unique restaurants in the world – MINI CHEF. Here, you don’t just eat food… you build your meal with LEGO!
It’s a must-try experience for families visiting Billund, and in this post, I’ll explain exactly how it works so you know what to expect.
How It Works
Get Your LEGO Ordering Plate
Each table gets a LEGO plate with colored bricks. These bricks represent different food items (for example, red for chicken, yellow for fries, blue for veggies).
Build Your Meal
You “build” your order by stacking the LEGO bricks that represent what you want to eat.
Once your meal is built, you place the LEGO plate into the scanner. The kitchen receives your order digitally.
Scan and Send Your Order

Robots Deliver Your Food!
Yes, robots! Two robotic arms pick up your meal trays and deliver them right to your table through a conveyor lift. The kids were amazed!

It was so much fun to watch — the kids were completely fascinated as they saw the whole MINI CHEF process happening right in front of them while we waited.

What’s on the Menu?
According to LEGO House, the MINI CHEF restaurant has a bronze-level organic food certification, meaning 30–60% of their food is organic.
The menu includes family favorites like:
French fries (organic and crispy)
Scandinavian salmon (herb- and lemon-marinated)
Seasonal roasted vegetables and lentils
Vegetarian options
Organic beef & veggie meatballs in homemade tomato sauce
Seasonal fruit selection

Tips for MINI CHEF
Reserve in advance – It’s very popular.
Go during off-peak hours (early lunch or late afternoon) to avoid waiting.
Bring your camera – The robots are a big hit on video!
Ask for a souvenir LEGO brick – A cute free keepsake from your meal.
Family Travel Essentials for Legoland Billund
Traveling with kids requires good preparation. Here are some essentials we packed that made our trip much easier (and you can easily shop them via Amazon):
Cooler Lunch Box – Almost every Danish family brings one! Food in Denmark (and especially inside Legoland) can be expensive, so having a cooler lunch box with sandwiches, fruit, and snacks saves money and keeps everyone happy.
Comfortable Backpacks – Perfect for carrying snacks, water, and rain jackets.
Reusable Water Bottles – Staying hydrated is key when exploring a theme park.
Rain Ponchos – Denmark’s weather can be unpredictable, so these are a lifesaver.
Portable Power Bank – Great for keeping your phone charged for maps, photos, and videos.
Lightweight Stroller – If you’re traveling with younger kids, this makes walking around much easier.
Packing Cubes – To keep everyone’s clothes organized during the road trip and hotel stay.
